The Universal Copyright Convention (UCC)
The Universal Copyright Convention (UCC) was created in 1952 as an alternative legal framework for copyright protection in countries not wishing to sign up to the “Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works” .
As the Berne Convention is now so widely adopted the UCC is of lesser importance worldwide. Articles of the UCC effectively gives precedence to the Berne Convention and declares that the UCC does not affect any provision of it.
