Definition: Chimping

Definition: Chimping | Glossary entry

Chimping… When you look at the screen on your DSLR after a shot you are chimping. It is a general term for checking the shot and seeing what sort of a result you have got. If you got it wrong you need to adjust the settings.

Chimping derives from the animated “Ohs” and “Ahs” issued by photogs admiring their own handiwork on the screen on the camera back. It sounds just like a delighted chimpanzee!
