IPTC Core & Extension Metadata Standard

IPTC Core and IPTC Extension are two metadata schema developed by the International Press Telecommunications Council  for use with news and stock photos. The IPTC standards are used openly but are proprietary standards implemented through technology of the Adobe Corporation. The standard is widely implemented in Adobe applications but may not be accessible if you are using other applications.
